This event is yet another chapter in the never ending tensions of two nuclear armed neighbours. But this time, what was Indian response not only was decisive but also a clear message. Any lapse or misadventure on its borders will be rewarded with sheer indignation.
Intelligence sources in the Indian Army say that once the infiltrators were met, they faced heavy artillery saturation and precision hits. Several LoC based launch pads were targeted in the retaliation operation causing severe damage to infrastructure that supported the attackers. Indian forces did not just frustrate the entry attempt of the enemy but used them so vigorously that it sent the enemy in panic.
It was the power of integrated battle strategies that proved so effective in India’s response: real-time intelligence, drone surveillance, and pinpoint artillery.
The Indian Air Force also fulfilled a supportive role and helped ensure absolute domination of the skies in the zone. According to reports more than a dozen Pakistani soldiers were killed or badly wounded and several terror launchpads were reduced to ashes.
Unity and pride were the political response in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi admired the armed forces for their bravery and accuracy, saying that India will never kneel over threats and provocations. In the whole country, people expressed their support and solidarity with the troops, applauding the military for a successful job of conducting the military affairs in the way which maintained national honor.
The international observers noted the development with most countries reiterating the need for peace in the region. Nonetheless, they also recognised India’s right to defend itself from unprovoked aggression.
In conclusion, the unsuccessful attack from Pakistan and the strong retaliation by India revealed an important fact in South Asia’s geopolitics. India is not only reactive but also confident. It was the preparedness and resolve of defense forces that took the plans of the enemy to smithereens before they could even come off the drawing board. Through this operation India has, yet again, set it clear in the minds of the world that, any transgression of its borders would be countered with forceful consequences, none leaving any room for doubt/ negotiation whenever the issue of security of the nation is at stake.
